Dunton began his musical career in early 1997 while a Senior in
high school, recording a demo tape under the name Red Team. It was
rather monotonous dub influenced by the likes of Techno Animal and
Scorn, and was unceremoniously rejected by Digital Hardcore Recordings.
That summer, Dunton began experimenting with noise, recording a
few odd tracks here and there with no real direction
In December of 1997, the first cohesive collection of tracks, Santa
Jenkins, was issued on the newly formed 2nd Floor Mafia Productions
label, under the moniker Thurston Jenkins. The name was not an ailais,
but a band name, and the 2FMP label was lifted from Joe Johnston
by way of Chris Sienko.
The next year saw the release of no less than five cassette releases,
all on 2FMP. One release, In Search of the Hamburger Pimp
was the last TJ release, issued in 1999. Tracks from all releases,
including unreleased ones, are compiled on the Anthology
release. Dunton switched project names to FDAS for the recording
of the Second Edition CDR, the first digital release on
the label.
After a long respite, Dunton is recording again, this time with
a more experimental/conceptual bent, but harsh noise is surely still
a distinct possibility.
